Changing the Lives and Careers of Students with College STEM Programs.

Changing the Lives and Careers of Students with College STEM Programs.

Changing the Lives and Careers of Students with College STEM Programs.

The JTF College STEM Program brings together JTF STEM mentors, partner organizations, and paid counselors and advisors to socially and economically disadvantaged, first-generation students at specific educational institutions.

Our 4-year program is designed to maximize success through early intervention with students at the start of their college experience. We identify talented students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds and provide a range of services until they graduate.

From regular mentoring sessions to workshops that improve soft skills, build self-confidence, growing awareness of global challenges, we look to instill the spirit of giving back in students when they graduate. We also offer programs and support through the JTF STEM network to any graduate in need. Many graduates of top technical schools come from a rural background and are also the first college graduates from their families. We assist these graduates in improving their skills such as interviewing, communication, and overall self-confidence.

Our Nurture Underserved College Students initiative focuses on changing the lives and careers of students who pursue studies in the STEM fields. This year, we have awarded scholarships to twelve academically gifted but economically disadvantaged students from rural regions in India, who are attending the IITs and NIITs. In addition to scholarships to fund their 4 year college education, the award also includes soft skills training for career development.

We are thrilled to partner with Foundation for Excellence (FFE) to administer this program. The twelve FFE-JTF Scholars, including three women, who form the initial cohort of students entered college in 2021.
